When the Crossways Estate was built in the early 1970’s the estate was known locally as 'The Pride of Bow' with its innovative designs and walkways. The three 25-storey tower blocks are an easily recognisable landmark in the East End of London. Having fallen into a poor state of repair the estate is undergoing an extensive programme of regeneration.
Gunfire installed 60 minute fire stopping barriers in the risers and in the floor penetrations at each floor level. The Nullifire B747 fire batt and mastic compound was used to produce a thickness of 50mm to meet LPCB fire standards.
Works were carried out to prevent smoke and fire travelling up the risers and ensuring safe evacuation of the building.
