Health & Safety
"While life is not a certainty, we should all take responsibility and ownership to prevent harm and illness to ourselves and others, as life itself is a gift"
Overview
The Gunite Group is committed to the principles and policies formulated under current Health and Safety legislation. As part of our Group ethos, Health and Safety is a paramount objective. We ensure that safety is at the top of every agenda and built into every decision we make.
Health and Safety Management System
At Gunite we operate a BSI Integrated Management System (IMS) for quality, Health and Safety, and the environment. We are also certified to PAS 99:2006, the integrated equivalent of ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001:2007, and ISO 14001:2004. The IMS and its components form the foundation of all of our activities both internally and onsite.
Gunite has also introduced a 'Near Miss' procedure which affords us a better understanding and insight into Health and Safety in the workplace and how we can improve it.
Health and Safety Managers
As part of our commitment to Health and Safety, Gunite employs a full-time NEBOSH qualified Health and Safety Officer (Technician member of IOSH). Our qualified Managers, Officers and Inspectors ensure that all of our sites are working according to current Health and Safety legislation and that our sites meet the standards we demand.
Training
Training is an integral aspect of our Health and Safety policy. Our office and site staff regularly attend courses and training programmes in order to maintain our focus on Health and Safety and comply with changing legislation. Our employees have qualifications in the following:
-
Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme
-

Partnership
The statistics related to accidents in the workplace are staggeringly high, with an average of two people killed every day. Gunite recognises how important safety is and as such is working alongside Mansell as part of their Zero Harm initiative in order to achieve complete eradication of injury at work by 2012.
