Fire Door Maintenance and Fire Stopping Works for Brewster House and Malting House, Tower Hamlets
After a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) of Brewster House and Malting House, we were asked to carry out the fire stopping works.
Brewster House and Malting House are two adjacent and identical 14 storey blocks of flats on the Barley Mow Estate in Tower Hamlets, built in the 1950’s/1960’s.
A Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) in 2016 identified the two blocks as being of substantial risk, so we were brought in by the contractors, Mears Group, to carry out the fire stopping works and maintenance to communal fire doors.
Scope of fire protection works for Brewster House and Malting House:
- Maintenance to communal fire doors – strips, hinges, closers etc.
- Removal of wooden service enclosures and reinstating Glasroc F Firecase
- Fire stopping to service penetrations in service risers
See below for examples of fire stopping cable tray services through a floor penetration, and to a dry riser;
At Gunfire, we supply and install passive fire protection systems, and provide complete fire door solutions – we specialise in surveying, installing and maintaining fire-rated doorsets, doors, and screens, and we’re also in the unique position of being able to offer the most suitable and cost-efficient solution to our clients as we are not a fire door manufacturer.
Our third party accreditation with BRE/LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board) and BM TRADA give you the confidence that the solutions and products we use will meet the specific standards you require.
If you are looking for an experienced passive fire protection or fire door contractor, or should you want to discuss any of the external refurbishment or waterproofing, and other services that our sister company, Gunite (Eastern) Ltd can help you with, just let us know.
