Staircase Refurbishment – Greenleys, Milton Keynes
Gunite was employed as main contractor by Milton Keynes Council to carry out the external staircase refurbishment of nine properties on the Greenleys Estate.
Built in 1975, the estate had external stairways which lead to small asphalt entrance balconies for the 1st floor flats.
A complete stairway refurbishment was needed to prevent water penetration into the electricity meter cupboards, as well as to improve surface areas to help reduce the risk of slips and falls.
The schedule of works included:
- Concrete repair
- Brickwork repair
- Balcony refurbishment
- Masonry repair
- Railings paint application
- UPVC doors for meter cupboards
We used the SIG Vulken quick balcony, walkway and stairwell system for the staircase refurbishment, asphalt and concrete landings. In preparation for this, the Vulkem quick membrane system was used to provide a 20 year waterproofing warranty.
All tenants remained in place during the works and as main contractor, Gunite liaised with tenants throughout the entire refurbishment to ensure any disruption was kept to a minimum.
