Waterproofing to Social Housing Walkways, Balconies and Staircases for WM Housing Group
The waterproofing, concrete repair and balcony balustrade works at Goring Road phase 2 are now complete.
With more than 30,000 homes across the West Midlands, WM Housing Group is one of the region’s largest not-for-profit social housing businesses.
Goring Road phase 1 was carried out by a large nationwide main contractor. These works were not completed due to the discovery of the poor condition of the concrete during the asbestos removal.
The project was redesigned resulting in Gunite directly securing phase 2 which included:
- Concrete repair works to the soffits and fascias of the balcony walkway including additional strengthening supports under the walkways, above door openings and brickwork repair
- Installation of the waterproofing system to the flat roof extensions including to walkways, balconies, and staircases
- Replacement fascia, guttering, downpipes and all other associated works to the extensions, walkways and around bin chute areas
- Installation of new balustrades throughout seven blocks including the installation of entrance gates
- General decorations
To continue works another contractor had started was challenging, especially when the works had been on hold for over a year. The railings had been badly maintained in storage and required fixing.
All works were carried out by our in-house competent operatives in accordance with our recommended material manufacturers specifications’. Through our high-quality workmanship, the properties in Goring Road now have a 15-year Sika Ltd guarantee for the concrete repairs and a 20-year Langley Waterproofing Systems Ltd guarantee for the waterproof deck membrane works.
Feedback from the client:
“Well done! What could have been a difficult situation has been managed incredibly well. Congratulations to you and Ross for formulating strong communication with the tenants. This definitely is a pat on the back for Gunite.”
